New Roof

Our roof suffered damage from the last hail storm to pummel our area. Consequently, we had to make arrangements to have it replaced.

Our roof was replaced today...the entire thing...in one day! I was astonished!!

The workers were here at 6:30 am, tearing off the old shingles. I have never heard such a RUCKUS! One would have thought the house was collapsing! (The plastic fan/light cover in both upstairs bathrooms did come off and fall to the floor.)

There were many workers, and they were here all day. (I guess maybe they took their lunch break in shifts, because there were always workers here.) I suppose I got used to all of the noise...because all of a sudden at 3:00 pm, I realized how quiet it was. I figured they had gone home for the day. They had...because they were finished, not because it was "quitting" time for the day. Wow.

It looks sooo good. They did a superb job...and even cleaned up all of the mess. I was impressed. :)

T and I went outside to "inspect" the roof...

that, and T's purple pipe cleaner snake! Ha. (His red snake is MIA right now.)

Even T's play house got a new roof! :)

(I can't believe I'm this excited over a new roof. Hmmm...what does that say about my life??)

  1. Well, taking just one day to finish a roofing task is possible, if a lot of people work together on it. I’m glad you are satisfied with their work. The new roof on your house looks great! Also, T’s play house roof looks lovely.

  2. Well, being satisfied with your contractor’s work should really be one of the primary points to consider after the work is done. :) It should determine whether the contractor met all the pre-planning requests and advice of the homeowner. Good job in choosing the right contractor, Koogle!

  3. Congrats on your new roof, Koogle! The roofers you hired were certainly capable of working fast, considering the amount of work involved in having to replace a roof and the fact that they were able to do it in just a single day! Now your house is prepared to face any kind of weather, come hail or storm, with your roof looking sturdy and durable!

  4. I’m sure T will enjoy playing more in his little play house. It’s super cute! It’s like a miniature of your real house because they have the same color. It’s a great job for the roof contractors in rendering an exceptional service.

  5. Wow! That was fast! I can only imagine your surprise when you saw that your new roof was all done, looking good as new! I must say your roofers did a pretty good job. It looks fabulous, and it matches the look of your house. Also, I love T’s play house! It looks like a mini version of your house.

  6. Congratulations on your new roof. It would be a good idea to also install asphalt shingles, since they can be reinforced by fiberglass or organic materials, which will bring extra resistance and keep your roof safe even after a serious hail storm. It would also be good to install tiles, since they can be good options to protect your roof from hail damages too. And concrete tiles would be better than clay tiles. These installments can very much help save you from more roof replacement expenses in the long run.

  7. Judging by the pictures, the newly installed roof is a cedar roof, if I'm not mistaken. Since your previous roof suffered damage from the last hail storm, a cedar roof is a very wise choice because cedar shingles have a high resistance against hail and storm.

  9. Nice choice in using wood panels for the playhouse. It is a great insulation for your son’s playhouse, with it, your son can play on, and when it rains he will be snug and cozy inside, plus you don’t have to worry about the roof leaking, should he be trapped because of the rain. But I am even more amazed by the contractors. They really did an excellent job! Where did you find them?

  10. Wow! Working on an entire roof in a day requires extreme precision and accuracy. The contractors have little room for error. If their measurements are slightly off, or if they fail to place the roofs properly, your roof is basically ruined, making you a very unhappy customer. But, judging from the pictures you have posted, I think they did a tremendous job! It’s better if you have posted pictures before the roof was replaced, so we would be able to see the changes. But, I guess you didn’t have the time. Congrats on your new roof, and I hope you won’t have to replace it in a long time!

  12. Wow, that’s pretty quick work for a team of roofers! Tearing off the old shingles and placing a new roof on your house in just barely 9 hours is impressive! Usually, the task of tearing off the shingles should take a good number of hours to complete, and to think that the team you hired was able to do all that and put a new roof in place says a lot about their skill level. Your new roof looks great, same with T’s playhouse. With a new roof on his playhouse, I’m pretty sure T will better enjoy playing there!

  13. Well, it’s quite obvious that you recruited skilled workers. :D I just noticed that you replaced the roof with wood shingles. For me, I think a metal roof would be much better, especially if you want to protect the house from hail damage. Wood won’t be easily destroyed by hail, but its lifespan will be decreased if it’s constantly exposed to hail storms and other harsh weather conditions.

  14. I guess this says that you must be very thankful for the many helping hands that allowed you to overcome your roof problem in a jiffy. Also, I’m happy that you were able to find reliable workers, and that you seem contented with the job they rendered.

  15. It’s a big advantage that your roof was replaced by more than two workers. Looking at your pictures, I can tell that all the workers were skilled enough to install your new roof. All things considered, your new roof looks really exquisite now and I think it added a little more appeal to your house.
