Valentine's Day Supper

We celebrated Valentine's Day at home with a candlelit supper...very simple.

My husband and I ate Stouffer's Lasagna...a tradition since before we were married (the lasagna part...not necessarily the Stouffer's part!).  I made meatloaf and mashed potatoes for T...his favorites...since he's allergic to tomato-based foods.

For dessert, we made s'mores...with heart-shaped marshmallows!

~So fun!!

At the end of an evening full of festivities, T was tuckered out!

Luv It!

I was so thrilled when I was contacted by FunBites to do a review.  My first impression upon receiving the FunBites Luv It! food tool was Wow, that's nice -- heavy-duty and well-made, and a very fun, vivid color!  Obviously, T shared my opinion.  I had put the cutter at the Very Back of the counter...and when I returned to the kitchen less than 15 minutes later, T already had "discovered" it and checked it out; I found it at the Front of a Different counter!  ;o)

I tried a new recipe for Savory Crackers...and used my new food toy tool.

The FunBites Luv It! was so easy and FUN to use!  After unrolling a pie crust, I cut it into many geometric shapes.

I placed the FunBites cutter on the pie crust.

Using the handles, I rocked it back and forth a few times.  In a matter of seconds, I had lots of geometric shapes!

Using the FunBites insert, I popped the shapes out of the cutter and onto my baking sheet.  (That insert is a genius idea!!)

I used the geometric shapes to make fun pictures:

a sun for me...

and a king wearing his crown for T.

My husband informed me that the king's mustache is upside down...and that that's why he doesn't look more like a king.  Oh.  Okay.  I get it.

Before T and I enjoyed eating our snack, I had to get in a little "shapes" practice!  ;o)

T used his FunBites geometric shapes to help Elmo hunt for shapes.

After we finished playing with our food, I cleaned up in a snap.  The FunBites set can be hand washed -- the FunBites preferred method -- or put in the dishwasher -- my preferred method.  <g>  (I do love that it is dishwasher safe.)

Not only is FunBites really easy and fun to use, it also is BPA free.  I like that.

Valentine's Day Party

At co-op this week, the children had a Valentine's Day party.  Pizza, cookies, and juice were provided.

After lunch, everyone played Valentine Bingo...

and won a prize of their choosing.

And last but not least, the children exchanged Valentines with their classmates.

It was a bit crazy...but lots of fun!  :)

Froggy Valentine

T's Grandma and Grandpa sent this cute stuffed frog to him for Valentine's Day.

I asked him to show his frog to me.  He did.

Valentine Pizza

For supper tonight, we ate Valentine pizza!

~Cute idea, isn't it??  (~Not mine, however.)  I never thought to cut the pepperoni into heart shapes until I saw it recently on the One Charming Party blog.

My husband is on to me.  He knew we were having pizza for supper tonight.  Just before walking out the door for work this morning, he asked me, "You aren't going to make the pizza into a heart shape are you??"  I told him that I hadn't planned on it...and just smiled...knowingly!  ;o)

Then this evening as I was making the pizza, he looked over and asked, "What are you doing, cutting the pepperoni into hearts?  We could be eating by now!"  ~Sounds like a man, doesn't it??  LOL!  (He's always starving when he arrives home from work.  I think he doesn't eat enough lunch.)

Our Valentine pizza was Chef Boyardee with added Italian seasoning, shredded parmesan cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, and turkey pepperoni.  It was quite yummy!  :)

Crocheted Heart Gift

T's Miss Bekah sent him this special handmade Valentine.

It was filled with packets of fruit roll-up and sheets of stickers!

T loved it!  :)  And oh, how he loves his Miss Bekah!!  She is so sweet...not only to think of him, but also to make something for him.

Breakfast Food Love

I love breakfast foods...just not for breakfast.  A morning person, I AM NOT!!  :P

So occasionally, we will have breakfast for supper...like we did tonight.  And...tonight it was a Valentine-themed supper breakfast supper.  (Three food fun meals in one day.  Now I know I'm on a roll!)

• egg bullseye (Valentine-style!)
• heart-shaped toast with red raspberry jam
• Crispy Crowns potatoes
• bacon
• heart-shaped Canadian bacon
• fried tortilla with cinnamon sugar

The tortilla with the heart cut out of the middle was left over from when I made T's Valentine pig sandwich the other day.

It was festive and fun...and fattening!  ;o)

Just Hearts

This was T's lunch today.  (I think I'm on a roll here!)  ~Nothing fancy...just hearts.

• milk in heart cup
• heart-shaped cake
• vanilla yogurt with micro heart sprinkles in pink silicone muffin liner
• stick pretzels
• heart-shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
• arrows made with stick pretzels, heart-shaped marshmallows for tips, and star-shaped marshmallows cut for tail feathers (whatever those things are called)

I just realized I got the arrows wrong.  I should have put on the heart-shaped marshmallow in the other direction so that the pointed bottom of the heart was the tip of the arrow.  Ooops!  Okay...let's just say that they're child-safe arrows.  Ha.

T's priorities:
Eat cake first...

Eat yogurt second....

Valentine Lion

This was T's breakfast this morning.

• lion face - pancakes
• eyes - mini brown m&m's
• nose - candy, flattened and cut with heart cutter
• cheeks - candy, flattened and cut with circle cutter
• mouth - chocolate icing, piped
• whiskers - stick pretzels
• ears - heart-shaped marshmallows
• mane - jumbo heart-shaped marshmallows

~Looks to me like sugar overload!  However, he didn't want/eat any of the candy or marshmallows.  :P

Afterward, he made this Valentine lion.

Valentine Pig

Yesterday, T made this Valentine pig.

I'm not sure why he thought his pig needed four eyes!  :P

Then for lunch, he had this Valentine pig meal.

• milk in pig cup
• vanilla wafer cookies
• applesauce with heart sprinkles
• tortilla chips with heart-shaped marshmallow in each

• peanut butter and jelly sandwich made with heart-shaped (cut) flour tortillas face, bread snout (red raspberry jelly underneath), candy eyes, and jumbo heart-shaped marshmallow ears

I Love Red

I love....

At Bento Blog Network, the theme for this week is red.  I love the color red...and I love to celebrate Valentine's Day...and the two just go so well together!  :)

• scalloped heart-shaped sandwich, peanut butter and seedless red raspberry jam, with edible glitter sprinkled on top
• red tortilla chips
• strawberry applesauce with heart pick
• fresh cranberries in heart muffin liner
• heart-shaped sugar cookie with pink icing and micro heart sprinkles
• milk with strawberry syrup in heart cup

T told me, "Pink milk."  I think he was surprised that milk could be pink.  However, after taking three sips, he told me, "White milk."  He was rejecting the strawberry-flavored milk!  :(

T doesn't look all that pleased in this photo, but he kept telling me over and over, "Thank you, Mama.  Thank you, Mama."

3. Say je t'aime:

          j in je is pronounced [zh] like the g in mirage
          e is pronounced like the oo in good
          t'aime is pronounced [tem] to rhyme with them.
