You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.
You make me happy when skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear, how much I love you.
Please, don't take my sunshine away.
I often sang that song to T when he was a baby.
The challenge this week at Bento Blog Network is to create a meal with a yellow theme.
T had a "sunshine" breakfast today, which was a perfect meal for a morning with an overcast sky.
- scrambled fried egg, cut with circle cutter (eyes and smile cut with smaller circle cutter), and cheese cut into strips on a flour tortilla
- pineapple chunks
- applesauce with yellow nonpareils
- orange pineapple apple juice
The first thing he did was remove the breakfast burrito from his muffin tin. :(
He liked the fruit, though!
(BTW...I sang to T, but he didn't seem to appreciate my effort.)
*Here's your history lesson for the day:
The song, You Are My Sunshine, was written by Oliver Hood, member of The Rice Brothers Gang, and recorded by the group in 1939.
However, Jimmie Davis is the credited songwriter. He bought the song and rights from Paul Rice and put his own name on it, a practice not uncommon in the pre-World War II music business. Jimmie Davis recorded the song in 1940.
You Are My Sunshine has been declared the state song of Louisiana as a result of its association with Jimmie Davis, former state governor and country music singer.
*Information from Wikipedia.

Excellent job! Kids! They grow up and don't like/appreciate our singing anymore! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHey! You never told me that you sang that to him! I sing that to him all the time, and Livy wanted to sing it to him everyday while he was here this fall... and we did. He LOVED it, but, of course, Livy and I have made up all kinds of corny motions and words to go with it, and that's probably what he liked best...
ReplyDeleteAww that song has a special spot for Little Miss & I too :) Great lunch!!
