Memorial Day Hike

We went letterboxing this afternoon:  my husband, T, and I.  My husband doesn't typically go with us.  However, when we're looking for letterboxes deep in the woods, I do feel safer if he's with us.

Clue #1 -- Cross the first bridge.

Clue #2 -- See a birdhouse on the right.

Clue #3 -- Find a trail marker on a tree.

See a bee on a leaf.  (No...not a clue!)

Clue #4 -- Find the Genie hiding at the far end of a log.

It seems that every time my husband is with us, it starts to rain.  I don't think he really enjoys letterboxing...and I've decided that he must wish the rain upon us so that we can quit and go home!  Maybe I should add that he's not especially fun to have along?  Sarcastic comments seem to issue from his mouth, and he gets kind of grouchy.  Hmmm...maybe I just should carry a baseball bat or something for safety's sake??  lol.

Yes...we were deep in the woods, and it started to rain.  It was a long hike back to our vehicle.  He asked me (as we were trotting down the path in the rain), "Are you still having fun?"  Actually, I was.  :)  I didn't mind getting wet.  T didn't seem to mind either.

I spotted a turtle on the path on our way out of the woods.

At least after all of that, we found a letterbox!  ;o)

Then we went to eat comfort food:  pizza!  A nice Memorial Day was had by all at least two of us!  :)

P.S.  I do think it's nice of my husband to go with us.  I appreciate him for it.

Graduation Banquet

On Saturday evening, we attended a graduation banquet at our chapel.  All of the graduates (high school, college, law school, etc.) who attend the chapel were recognized; four of the five were in attendance.

Four graduates

After the meal, there was a short program.  It was fun to learn more about each graduate.  I even learned a few things about my niece, such as:

  • Her first time flying was when she flew out of a category four hurricane.  They were the last flight out!  (Hurricane Floyd)
  • A shark swam by her when she was snorkeling once.  She didn't notice it until her friend pointed it out to her.
  • She moved seven times and lived in four different states, all before her thirteenth birthday.
  • She has kept almost every (written) letter she has ever received.  (She has four or five shoeboxes full of them.)
  • She spent two weeks in Europe and traveled to four countries.

My niece

My, how she's grown and matured!
~Still as cute as ever.  :)

They shared their hopes and plans for the future.

The graduates were given the following verses to ponder.
Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
~Joshua 1:7-9
We enjoyed ourselves...

Afterward, my husband, T, and I tooled around Lowe's.  (~No pun intended.)
T wanted his picture taken in front of this huge tool storage chest.

On Saturday afternoon, my husband's brother and sister-in-law hosted a drop-in for their older daughter who will be graduating from high school in a week or so.

Farm Day

T and his papa went to a local Farm Day on Saturday.  There were lots and lots of tractors.  Here are photos of two of the more "interesting" ones:

Here is T, having a good time!

The highlight for T was getting to ride a horse!

Mother's Day

I cooked lunch for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day.  We went over to their house after church yesterday to enjoy the meal and some time together.

Our menu:

  • pork tenderloin
  • mashed potatoes
  • baby peas with bacon and almonds
  • carrot casserole
  • steamed corn
  • crescent rolls
  • tossed salad with celery, carrots, tomatoes, and croutons
  • vanilla ice cream with hot buttered rum sauce and toffee bits

My husband with his mama!

I'm sad because I just realized I didn't get a picture of myself with my mama when we spent time with her on Friday...and, I didn't get a picture of myself with my sweet boy!  :(  Bummer!...times two!!

Graduation Party

Yesterday, my nephew graduated from Clemson University.

My brother and sister-in-law had a family get-together this afternoon in recognition of their son's achievement.

In true Tiger spirit, my brother painted this on their driveway.

My husband and T worked on a Tiger paw print of their own!

Someone didn't care for chalk dust on his fingers!

Here is the graduate, grilling fish for tacos.

T and his papa certainly enjoyed the party!

Here is the chef at work...my sister-in-law's brother.

~A masterpiece!

~Another masterpiece!  These are only two of many.  :)

~A proud daddy...my brother and nephew.

This is only some of the yummy spread!

T is befriending the family dog.

~The handsome family.

~The entire family...can't forget the dogs, you know!
;o)

Last (but definitely not least!), the dessert.
